The Ecstasy of Gold

I haven’t updated in a few days because of a variety of things — a hopefully minor but scary health issue at the beginning of the week, writing (a book chapter, a journal paper, two abstracts for two talks, and a proposal for another paper), plus general summer lethargy is finally kicking in. I’m still watching a lot of Italian movies — spaghetti westerns, giallo, etc. I saw Bava’s Black Sunday last night for the first time and it was great, and tonight after Ben’s birthday party I might head up to the last rooftop cinema thing tonight.
But, back to spaghetti westerns, have I mentioned lately that I still love YTMND? Some think it’s played out, I still think it’s hilarious, and I present to you my favorite recent, Leone-meets-Nintendo themed YTMD: Ecstasy of Gold NES.
I busted out laughing when I saw that one. I totally want to play that game! I imagine sharpshooting the noose would be really tough with 8-bit graphics. I bet the Civil War battle cut scene would go on far too long, too.
Finally, in related news, I have decided that within the next year, I will get a cat and name him Tuco Benedito Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez.
(This post will probably only get responses from Austin. Thanks for reading.)

you’re right. Maybe I can convince Meg to name the future dachschund Tuco.
Name it Angel Eyes. I’ve got dibs on Tuco!
