Happy Birthday, Star Trek
September 8th, the birthday of Star Trek, the TV that for better or worse, is the one I know the most about. Forty-one years young, and ready to start anew with some guy from Lost and some dude from Heroes. I haven’t had much time to post in the past few weeks, but I have a few longer posts I’m thinking of writing, so stay tuned, they might appear on this site eventually. Until then, however, celebrate by putting on some stupid hats and watching “Spock’s Brain” or something. You know, like these guys are doing:

Me, I’m going to go lie in bed and goof around with my new iPhone!

In your travels, you wouldn’t happen to have seen the movie Underground, would you?
I was reading about the Kocani Orkestar, and some website recommended the movie, presumably because it uses their music. Anyway, figured if someone would know more about it, it might be you.
Nope, never heard of it! Or Kocani Orkestar.
Ah. The latter’s an odd Macedonian brass band, and the former apparently is some sort of magic-realist Yugoslavian past-50-years-summation movie.
Oh, and your adventures with Mr. Holmes came up recently. One of our visiting scholars and I were at a Reds game and he said he’d been re-reading Sherlock Homes stories, so it seemed natural.
