Games and Learning [Blurb]
Over the years, I’ve studied cognition and learning in various contexts, focusing recently and intensely on how learning “works” in the interactive medium of videogames. I’ve been interested in games since the olden times of text-based “interactive fiction” through the recent trend of popular music and rhythm games (such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band). My research is currently about trying to understand meaning-making with games, how game expertise develops, and how might we, as educators, transfer skills learned in-game to other settings.
